About Ad Astra
Suhani Prakash
Hi everyone! My name is Suhani Prakash and I’m so excited you’re here! I am the founder and owner of Ad Astra, a nonprofit based in Cincinnati, Ohio. During the pandemic, many people struggled with mental health issues. Some people had pre existing issues which got worse because of the feeling of loneliness that settled over everyone, while some people’s mental health issues developed while they were alone. While my experiences are not as extreme, sometimes I felt cut off from everything I cared about. During this time, it has become harder to keep our eyes on the stars and keep moving forward. That’s why I decided to create Ad Astra! Ad Astra is a shortened version of the Latin phrase “ad astra per aspera,” meaning “to the stars through hardships.” It is important to remember that we all have the capabilities to reach the stars and while setbacks can be difficult and changes can be frightening, it is important to remember that the we have the power to shape our destiny. You are always unique, always special, and always important, regardless of the circumstances. I strive to help people who may feel helpless to realize that it is okay to not be okay, and that in the dark skies above us, you have to cling onto the stars. Therefore, all of my profits will be donated to mental health organizations. My goal is to inspire hope for people, encourage them to shine, and assure them that they are not alone. For not only are stars bright, beautiful, and constant, but they cluster together :)
